Dedicated to making a difference.
The Central Ohio Down Syndrome Society (CODSS) takes a fresh and proactive approach toward advocacy. Along with creating a welcoming community of support for individuals and families living with Down syndrome, we’re aggressively advancing research, legislation and education.
CODSS was founded with the belief that we could further Down syndrome initiatives and increase awareness more effectively than ever before. That’s why the organization operates with the efficiency, urgency and intensity of a business--- with a social mission.
Our members drive our organization, helping determine how CODSS uses its resources. We seek to educate through research, strengthen with advocacy and empower through achievement. By working together, we believe we can and will make a difference.
CODSS is the first Down syndrome organization in Ohio to:
- Convene its own statewide scientific research advisory panel
- Have its own state/federal legislative lobbyist
- Directly engage lawmakers on initiatives that protect & advance the rights of families
- Offer members access to critical therapy sessions, including PT, OT, and Speech.
Ultimately, our goal is to provide the information, encouragement and life skills that enable individuals and families living with Down syndrome to lead meaningful, independent and healthy lives.
We’re excited about what we’ve already done and we look forward to what we will continue to achieve. You can support our efforts by becoming a member, making a donation or simply spreading the word about our efforts.
CODSS is a new and independent 501(c)(3) not-for-profit corporation.
