We are a business with a social mission.
A common slight against non-profit organizations is that they are unsophisticated and unable to achieve real results. The Central Ohio Down Syndrome Society breaks that mold, driven by experienced and business savvy leaders and members.
We plan strategically for short and long term goals and we understand that we are held accountable to our donors, who are our investors. We in turn subscribe to best practices in the for-profit, and not-for-profit industries, including transparency, fiscal accountability and safe guards. Along with our early accomplishments, CODSS is also working in full partnership with nationally acclaimed research institutions. Not only do these unique partnerships increase access and improve services to families, it also initiates potential new Down syndrome research initiatives.
Modern Engagement
Members of CODSS will have full access to an advanced database connecting them to each other and family members, friends and contacts outside of CODSS. We provide all the tools they need to engage their communities across their own social networks and online. These can be used all year long for social support or during fundraising drives for their own family or CODSS.
Social Progress and Achievement
Great strides have already been made to provide good support and information for infants and toddlers with Down syndrome and their families. But there must be a greater strategic focus on enabling our children with Down syndrome so they can lead more independent lives as adults. Achieving this vision is the driving force behind CODSS.
